Britain and the US are starting a cyber attack war games exercise. If you were a terrorist and responsible for devising the most shocking attack ever on Europe and America, what would you do?
Bear in mind that it would have to innovative and you'd have to keep things tight and small to reduce the risk of being discovered. Aviation's been done, as have ships -- USS Cole and, going back a bit, the Atile Lauro (sp?).

I'd inject "co-ordinated random noise" into the comms systems - the co-ordinated bit to overcome all the usual data integrity checks - once there's no confidence in the data/comms, modern society will be fucked.
This concept, however, is not new - it dates back to the identification of the Cosmic Background Radiation. We've simply fudged our way around it.

I'd get the holy brotherhood to wage a daily campaign in all major cities to both drive round really slowly, deliberately blocking traffic and causing gridlock, and also to go into all high street banks and make every possible enquiry about every product, ultimately buying none of course.
It would be a start.

I'd get 500 jihadists, load them with sniper rifles and get them to go out and shoot random people on the streets. Some would get caught, but it would bring utter terror to the streets for a long long time. Much more terrifying than a one off car bomb. And very difficult to foil as well.
